African Animals: Zebras and Giraffes

Young zebra When being chased by a carnivore (meat eater), zebras work as a team to confuse their predator. The herd of zebras will run in a zig-zag pattern and thanks to the stripes on the zebras' bodies, many hunters get distracted.
Ms. Cook feeding giraffes In this picture you can see the giraffe's long tongue. While eating leaves from acacia trees, giraffes carefully avoid the sharp spikes that protect the tree.
Wildebeest We saw many zebras and wildebeest as they migrated from the Serengeti National Game Reserve to the Masai Mara. When it gets cold and wet in the Serengeti the zebras and wildebeest know it is time to migrate (or move) to a warmer, drier place for a while. I bet you have seen birds flying south for the winter. That's what they are doing too. They're migrating.
Baboon with baby
The first night we camped at Lake Nakuru, our campsite was home to a family of about 20 baboons. They were very friendly and I still remember listening to them in the trees above the tent as I fell asleep. This baboon has a baby holding on to her belly.
